Creating an in-home/garage Recycling Station

Want to recycle but just don’t know where to start?

  • First decide how you’ll be recycling; depending on Garbage pickup or Recycling Center drop off will then determine the items you want to put to side for recycling.

    • Garbage Pickup: Your Garbage Resource will have list of items that can be recycled.

    • Recycling Center Drop Off: Go to website of recycling center to find items of recycling.

  • Sorting your Recyclables:

    • Garbage Pickup Example: Cardboard and Paper, Plastic with #1 - 7 rinsed (with or without caps), Glass Bottles, Soda Cans all in one bin.

    • Recycling Center Drop Off: Cardboard, Paper, Plastic , Glass, Bottles, Soda Cans are separated into different bins.

  • Creating your Recycling Station:

    • Garbage Pickup: Garbage company will provide a recycling bin.

    • Recycling Center Drop Off: Count the bins needed for each type, measure your allocated area for your Recycling Bin prior to purchasing your bins. Common areas for Recycling Station include Kitchen, Garage, and Office.
